Privacy Policy
Global Price Compare for ASOS · last updated 28 August 2026
This extension collects nothing about you. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. Nothing you do is sent to us, because there is no server behind this extension.
What is stored, and where
Two things are stored, both only in your own browser:
| What | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your settings — chosen currency, theme, panel position, panel behaviour | storage.sync |
So your preferences persist, and follow you between Chrome profiles if you use Chrome sync |
| Cached prices and exchange rates | storage.local |
So revisiting a product does not re-fetch everything. Price entries expire after 15 minutes and are deleted automatically |
Neither is transmitted anywhere. If you use Chrome's own sync, your settings travel through your Google account under Google's privacy policy, not ours — we never see them. Uninstalling the extension removes all of it.
What the extension connects to
When you open an ASOS product page, the extension makes requests to two places, and nowhere else:
1. ASOS (www.asos.com) — the same public price
endpoint the ASOS website itself uses, once per country store, to read that
product's price. These requests are sent without cookies or
credentials, so they carry no session and cannot identify you. The only
information sent is the ID of the product you are already looking at.
2. An exchange rate provider
(open.er-api.com) — to fetch current currency rates. This request
contains no information about you or the product: it asks only for a table of
rates. It is made at most once every six hours.
There is no analytics endpoint. There is no server of ours to send anything to.
What the extension does not do
- It does not read, collect, or transmit your browsing history
- It does not read page content, form fields, or anything you type
- It does not create an identifier for you
- It does not run on any site other than
www.asos.com - It does not sell or share data, because it does not have any
Permissions, and why each is needed
storage— to save your settings and cache prices in your browser, as above.- Access to
www.asos.com— to display the price panel on ASOS product pages and read prices from ASOS's price endpoint. - Access to
open.er-api.com— to fetch currency exchange rates.
That is the complete list. The extension requests no other permissions.
Affiliate links
Store links in the panel may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you buy something after clicking through. This is disclosed in the extension's interface and on its Chrome Web Store listing.
It never affects what you are shown: stores are ranked by converted price alone, cheapest first, and no store is promoted, reordered, or hidden for commercial reasons. Clicking a store row always takes you to that store.
Affiliate links are handled by the affiliate network's own redirect, which may set a cookie on their domain to attribute a sale. That is the network's processing, under their privacy policy. We receive only aggregate commission reports — never your identity, and never what you bought.
Children
This extension is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, regardless of age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new date at the top. Material changes to what the extension connects to would also require a new extension release and Chrome Web Store review.
